Support for Massachusetts GMO Labeling Bills

Two bills will be introduced into the Massachusetts General Court for this legislative session - the General Court is the governing body of our state representatives -by Representative Ellen Story from MA and several co-sponsors.

HD 133, An Act relative to the labeling of food. This bill would require that any food product exposed for sale in the Commonwealth that is genetically engineered, or derived from genetically engineered, be labeled as such, in a readable form for consumers.

HD 134, An Act relative to the labeling of seed. This bill would require that any seed or agricultural products exposed for sale in the Commonwealth which have been genetically engineered, or derived from genetically engineered material, be labeled in a manner conforming with other existing labeling laws for wholesale and agricultural products. Right now as you think about planting a garden or buying ANY fruit or vegetable grown from local farm stands an extremely high chance that the seed has been genetically altered. In terms of foods we buy now we are eating foods that are resistant to pesticides that are considered worse than DDT, a deadly pesticide used many years ago.
I created a petition to The Massachusetts State House, The Massachusetts State Senate, and 3 others titled “Support for Massachusetts GMO Labeling Bills”. Will you sign this petition? It will then be sent on to the politicians.

P.S. The FDA is now considering passing human consumption and farming of GMO fish… billions of dollars are being made in GMO products on the backs of Americans health… this is serious stuff and it is effeting children even more profoundly than it is effecting adults and WE CAN DO SOMETHING TO BEGIN STOPPING IT!
